The number 3 X-15 (tail number 66672) was lost in an accident in November 1967. Number 1 (66670) is on display at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. Number 2 (66671) is on display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. A crew, led by former X-15 pilot Milt Thompson, built a full-scale reproduction of the number 3 aircraft where it is now on display on a pedestal at Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards AFB.

The Marine Corp Air Station at El Toro, California, used to have one of the best airshows in the country before the base was closed. For two years, as part of the regular airshow, a night airshow was held. This photo is a time exposure of a biplane doing stunt maneuvers in front of the crowd using flares and fireworks. Unfortunately, the second night airshow was hampered by dense fog and further night airshows were canceled.
